Challenging yourself to try new things can generally be difficult for many people. Deciding to do the thing that lingers in the back of your mind almost menacingly is another feat in itself. “The thing,” can range from starting a business to sharing your creative talents with the world.

For me, the time between thinking about starting a blog to actually starting it was fairly short. The time span from conception to completion was only a few months. However, the decision to actually use my skills or what I have come to realize are my gifts took a very long time, especially in a public way.

Using the skills that come along with blogging such as writing and curating are things that I use in my everyday life. Yet, the idea of sharing my unique voice and perspective and having that critiqued by anyone that came across what I’ve shared didn’t sound like a good time to me. 

As a person who values privacy and cherishes a sense of peace, I wasn’t exactly eager to dive headfirst into the treacherous waters of the internet. However, shifting my perspective transformed everything. I began to see this platform not as a daunting space but as a powerful tool—a resource for growth and connection.

Blogging felt like the natural choice for me for a few reasons. It offers a chance to hone my writing skills in a more creative way, something I hadn’t fully challenged myself to do before.

Admittedly, I was the kind of student who left writing assignments until the last minute but still managed to score high marks. Don’t get me wrong, I still got busy when it came to academics but that’s another topic for another day lol. 

Beyond that, I envision this blog as a launchpad for future adventures and projects—a space to explore and expand. And perhaps most excitingly, the idea of building a community of like-minded individuals who share common experiences yet bring their own unique stories to the table feels incredibly rewarding.
